We’re proud to announce that Mother Lode Moving recently teamed up with Sacramento Republic Football Club and their Indomitable Partner Western Health Advantage to deliver 11 Buddy Benches to local school playgrounds across the Sacramento region. This incredible community initiative focuses on combating loneliness by encouraging inclusion, fostering friendship, and raising awareness of mental health among young students.
The benches were installed in May during Mental Health Awareness Month and serve as a simple yet powerful reminder that no one should ever feel alone.

What Is a Buddy Bench?

At first glance, a Buddy Bench might look like an ordinary place to sit, but it serves a much larger purpose. When a student sits on a Buddy Bench, it means they’re feeling excluded; they would like someone to talk to or play with, but may not know how to ask. Classmates and teachers alike are encouraged to talk to them or invite them to play. With these small gestures, they actively create a culture of empathy and connection. These types of seemingly small but meaningful interactions can make a big difference in a child’s day and life.
